Next Level Learning programs in Philadelphia are now enrolling, and for the first time, adult learning is just a phone call away.

A hotline is now available for residents looking to find and sign up for adult learning opportunities in their communities. By dialing 1-833-750-5627, learners will be connected to a representative who can match them with classes that best meet their needs.

Next Level LearningNext Level Learning classes include:

  • Reading, writing and math
  • English for speakers of other languages (ESOL)
  • GED and HiSET prep
  • Basic computer skills

The Office of Children and Families (OCF) is working in partnership with Philadelphia Works to offer the hotline, a first time service for the City’s adult learning community.

“Previously, adult learners faced a confusing array of choices that they needed to navigate, often on their own, by making multiple phone calls or searching online,”  said Christine Piven, Ph.D., Executive Director of Adult Education in OCF. “Now, with a single phone call, they can discuss options with advisors, and be connected to classes that fit their individual needs.”

Next Level Learning opportunities — from education access, to digital skills training and career preparation  — are available to residents ages 16 and older.

Alex Long, 20, took GED classes at Kensington Health Sciences Academy. He left traditional learning at the height of the pandemic, struggling to adapt to the shift to virtual learning. After receiving his GED – thanks in part to the classes offered through Beyond Literacy – he plans to enroll at Community College of Philadelphia to further his education. Alex encourages others to, in his words, “100% go for it!”

“It’s really a game changer in today’s life…you really need education in today’s time, so definitely go back and strive to get that GED,” he said. “Push and have somebody to motivate you. You need a team behind you to keep pushing you and making you strive to be what you want to be in life.”

Adult learners can call the hotline at 1-833-750-5627 to learn more about classes and enroll. Calling during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) is best. During other times, please leave a message. And please let it ring a while – when possible, we try to have Career Navigators answer live, rather than quickly sending you to voicemail!
