Philadelphia loves a champion! In 2021, five Philadelphia youth teams brought home national titles in football and cheer.
The championship teams will celebrate with their family, friends, and local communities this Saturday, April 9, at a Celebration of Champions hosted in their honor.
About our title winning teams
On December 23, the Enon Eagles of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church beat the Virginia Beach Mustangs 20-12 in Plant City, Florida, marking the team’s first-ever National Championship win.
For the Inner City Warriors, 2021 was also a year of firsts. This new organization went on to finish 7-0 in their regular season, only giving up two points. The North Philadelphia-based teens finished their first season with a Unity Bowl Championship and a National Championship win.
Three different cheer squads gave Philly plenty of reason to cheer this year as they each took home National Championships in their respective categories.
The Oak Lane Youth Association Wildcats Cheer Team won the 2021 18U AYC National Cheer Championship.
The Frankford Chargers Youth Sports and Mentoring Association won the 2021 10U AYC National Championship in Dance. The 14U team took home second place in Step and third place in Dance, with coach Kisha.
The North Philly Aztec Cheer Team brought home the 2021 8U AYC National Championship in Dance.
The City of Philadelphia is proud to celebrate these victories and recognize the winning teams for representing the best of youth athletics that Philadelphia has to offer on a national stage.
Join us at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to cheer on the champions!
