On November 17, 2021, community members and city leaders came together to cut the ribbon at the East Poplar Playground in North Philadelphia. This beautifully renovated playground is the latest project from the Rebuild initiative, the city’s historic investment of over $400 million in parks, recreation centers and libraries.

 The renovated playground includes:

  • New playground with new play equipment and safety surface
  • New sprayground
  • New ADA accessible seating areas
  • New asphalt track looping through the playground
  • New plants and trees
  • New hydration fountain
  • Updated walking paths throughout the playground with new fencing

The $1.46 million investment was curated in tandem with the East Poplar neighbor and community. Neighbors, residents and members of the recreation advisory committee weighed in on the design and its process—along with participating in public meetings and completing surveys.
