PHILADELPHIA –The Philadelphia Department of Public Health today announced 124 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 novel coronavirus in Philadelphia. That brings the number of confirmed cases to 143,423. In addition, the Department of Public Health also announced 40 new probable cases from rapid antigen tests. 

The Department of Public Health confirmed six additional fatalities in Philadelphia. This brings the number of residents who have succumbed to the virus in Philadelphia to 3,621. Of the 3,621 total deaths, 1,211 (33%) were long-term care facility residents.

The Department of Public Health reports 203 patients with COVID-19 are currently being treated in Philadelphia hospitals, with a total of 36 on ventilators.

Philly Counts Ambassador Program, Applications Due May 26: There is just one day left to apply to the Philly Counts Ambassador program. This is a paid, ten-week organizing and workforce development initiative. Ambassadors will work in priority neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia, as identified by Philly Counts in partnership with the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, and also engage new supporters and move them to action, including accessing and learning about the vaccine, volunteering in their communities to make positive change, and learning how to use City resources to impact their neighborhoods for years to come. 

Philly Counts is still looking for applicants in the following neighborhoods: Frankford, North Central, Belmont, and Mantua. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 26, 2021. Members of the public can apply here.
