PHILADELPHIA – The Streets Department announced today resurfacing operations in the Chestnut Hill area begins Tuesday, September 29, weather permitting. Work will include temporary lane closures and parking restrictions. The work is expected to be completed throughout October.
Resurfacing will be completed on the following streets:
- McCallum Street – Allens Lane to Mermaid Lane
- Mermaid Lane – McCallum Street to St Martins Lane
- St Martins Lane – Mermaid Lane to Seminole Street
- Seminole Street – St Martins Lane to Chestnut Hill Avenue
- Chestnut Hill Avenue – Seminole Street to Bethlehem Pike
The resurfacing effort will be completed in separate phases – street milling, the adjustment of manhole covers and resetting of utility boxes, roadway base repairs/edge of roadway shoulder repairs, and final paving – which will take place in separate activities over the course of the several weeks.
Operations for the milling work, adjusting manholes and resetting utility boxes, and final paving will be performed during daytime hours between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Flagging operations will be used to maintain traffic on the roadway with single lane closures utilized to perform the resurfacing work.
This work is being completed by Tony DePaul and Son Contractors and is part of the Streets Department Citywide 105 Resurfacing contract. The project is being financed with federal funds.
