The Department of Revenue celebrated Taxpayer Appreciation Day on Friday, February 28. Our annual event acknowledges taxpayers and water customers for paying their tax and water bills on time. More than 96 percent of Real Estate Taxes are paid in the year they are billed and more than 90 percent of business taxes are paid on time. Their contributions fund the School District and essential City services such as:

  • Police and Fire protection
  • Rec centers and libraries
  • Summer swimming pools

Residents and customers received fun prizes, refreshments and information about Real Estate Tax and water bill assistance programs at the Municipal Services Building on Friday. They also enjoyed a performance from students from the High School of Creative and Performing Arts.

To see some of the action yourself, watch our weekly Revenue Rundown broadcast. We talked with deputy revenue commissioners Kathleen McColgan and Michelle Bethel-Miller who covered a variety of topics including:

  • The winter moratorium for water customers ending on March 31.
  • Water shut-offs can begin as early as April 1.
  • Real Estate Taxes are due by March 31 to avoid additional costs.
