From November 1 to December 15, 2019, Americans can sign up for health plans through the Affordable Care Act’s open enrollment period.

If you sign up before December 15, you are guaranteed health care for all of 2020. This means that no matter what changes occur in Washington, DC, you’re able to access health care for at least a year.

Getting the health insurance coverage you need

Having health insurance is one of the most important ways to keep yourself and your family healthy and safe. People who have health insurance are more likely to visit their doctors before health problems become health emergencies.

Everyone should have health insurance.

What is the Affordable Care Act?

The Affordable Care Act provides affordable access to health care for all Americans.  It offers health care options for those who cannot otherwise access care, like part-time workers, the self-employed, and people whose employers do not offer health insurance.  It also:

  • expands family health plans to guarantee coverage of dependents, like children, until the age of 26;
  • guarantees Americans access to healthcare regardless of preexisting conditions; and,
  • expands Medicaid in most U.S. states so millions of healthy adults living in poverty can access care.

The Trump Administration has severely limited the open enrollment period. This means you have less time to enroll in a plan. Act now to select a plan before the December 15 open enrollment deadline.

To avoid paying a tax penalty, all Americans should sign up for health insurance.
