C40 World Mayors Summit

On October 6, Mayor Jim Kenney will join other City officials to travel to Copenhagen, Denmark for the C40 World Mayors Summit, the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) Conference, and related business development meetings. The mayor will be joined by representatives from the following departments:

The main focus of the trip is to learn from global leaders and continue to develop strategies around the global climate emergency. Philadelphia has committed to reducing citywide carbon emissions 80% and moving to 100% renewable energy by 2050 and has already made significant strides towards meeting these goals. However, the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) indicates that carbon emissions need to be dramatically reduced by 2030 to stave off the worst impacts of climate change.
