Morning program kicks off opportunity for participants from PAL centers citywide to observe and learn from professionals in the government workplace.

WHAT: PAL Day at City Presented by Toyota Kick-off ceremony in which public officials will  begin the day of mentoring for about 40 high school youths from 19 Police Athletic  League (PAL) centers citywide at the annual PAL Day at City Hall. Event  participation is among highest ever.

 

WHERE: City Hall (Mayor’s Reception Room 202)

 

WHEN:   Wednesday, February 13 at 10 a.m.

 

DETAILS:  Public officials and PAL Center high school students, recognized for their academics, social activities and community service will participate in the 2019 PAL Day at City Hall kick-off ceremony. As part of the orientation, the students will shadow and be “adopted by” an assigned senior-level official for the day. Following an honorary “swearing-in” ceremony and professional speed-mentoring meet-and-greet session (students will exchange business cards) with participating government officials, the honorary student-public officials will extend the networking experience at a luncheon. Afterwards, they will go to work and visit various workplaces to learn about the daily operations of government first-hand with their assigned mentors. The day of mentoring’s theme is ‘Steppingstone to Success’.

 

The Office of the City Representative organizes special and ceremonial events for the City of Philadelphia and serves as its promotion, production, tourism/hospitality and public relations arm.
