As the weather gets warmer, many Parks & Rec spaces have transformed into outdoor and indoor yoga studios. Swap out your solo flow at home for the river views at Schuylkill Banks or the fresh air in your local neighborhood park! With a variety of dates and locations offered, there’s plenty of opportunities to say “om” this summer.
Note: Most classes listed are BYO-mat and welcome all levels of yoga experience. All classes are weather-permitting, so check each site’s page before heading out!
Yoga on the Banks
Where: Schuylkill Banks (grassy area near 25th and Locust St., 19103)
When: Saturdays at 11 a.m., Sundays at 11 a.m., Tuesdays at 6 p.m., and Thursdays at 6 p.m.
Cost: Donation-based
Yoga on the Banks is excited to return to outdoor practice for the summer season with an expanded class schedule and teacher base. Bring a mat or towel to practice on, sunglasses, sunscreen, and water bottle. Follow the group’s Facebook page for up-to-date announcements and weather updates.
Yoga at the Market
Where: Dickinson Square Park Farmers’ Market (E. Moyamensing Ave. at Morris St., 19148)
When: Sundays, until October 28, 9 a.m.
Cost: Suggested donation of $5
Join the Friends of Dickinson Square Park and instructor Miles Turner for a donation-based, all-levels community yoga class every Sunday this summer (weather permitting). Do your sun salutations under the sun and practice your tree pose in the shade of one of the park’s many trees! After class, visit the Dickinson Square Park Farmers’ Market. Bring your mat and sense of humor!
Evening Yoga in Palumbo Park
Where: Palumbo Park (723 Catharine St., 19147)
When: Tuesdays, July 10-August 21, 6:15 p.m.-7:15 p.m.
Cost: Free
Join the Friends of Palumbo Park and local yoga instructors Huda and Dahvia for free community, gentle vinyasa yoga class for six Tuesdays this summer. This is a slow-paced, mindful class for all yoga levels, but please note it is for adults only. After class, stick around for snacks with your neighbors! BYO mat.
Yoga at Parks on Tap
Where: Various locations (check website for weekly location!)
When: Thursdays from 6-7 p.m.
Cost: Suggested $10 donation
Philly’s traveling beer garden visits a new park each week. Every Thursday evening, Roots2Rise will host yoga classes at the park’s latest location. Come for the yoga, stay for the hammocks, yummy food, and refreshing drinks!
Roots2Rise Community Yoga
This summer, Roots2Rise Yoga will offer community yoga classes at playgrounds and recreation centers around Philadelphia, either free or with a $5 donation. Every day of the week, you can find a Roots2Rise class at a Philadelphia Parks & Recreation site, all levels welcome! Unless otherwise mentioned, classes are indoors. Join the fun at:

Swim Philly Poolside Yoga
Swim Philly provides low-cost, high-impact pool renovations and free activities for all ages at some Philly pools. Poolside Yoga will be taking place at 6 pools this summer.
