Today the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) announced the winners of the national Meet Me at the Park Earth Month campaign. Philly’s winning project includes the purchase of all-terrain wheelchairs and walkers for Parks & Rec’s environmental centers. This will help us increase accessibility for those with mobility limitations. The environmental centers will host special programs for seniors and individuals with special needs as well.

Meet Me at the Park is part of NRPA and Disney’s commitment to provide one million kids and families with greater access to play. Throughout Earth Month in April, the public cast their votes and nominations to direct grant funding for park improvement projects that connect kids to nature, inspire healthy living, and provide access to sports. Each of the fifteen winning projects received a $20,000 grant.

Thanks to all who voted for Philadelphia Parks & Recreation!
