Health Center 5, on North 20th Street, is always a busy hub of activities. From the STD clinic, to the call center, to prenatal care, to insurance sign-ups, to dental care, pediatrics, x-rays, and everything in between. There’s always something going on there.

And when the holiday season kicks into gear, that’s when the staff there really shine.

Thanksgiving dinner

Every year, the staff at Health Center 5 spend most of the fall collecting money and canned and boxed goods in anticipation of Thanksgiving. All of this food is for patients identified by the doctors in the Health Center in families who might need a little extra help during Thanksgiving. With the money collected, staff purchase turkeys as well.

Then on Thanksgiving, the real work starts. Staff from the Health Center spend the morning at a local homeless shelter serving food and donating gently used clothes.

Our staff know that taking care of each other is the best way to ensure a healthy community, and every day they do their part.
