Board of Pensions notice on solicitation emails
Several third-party companies are sending emails to pension plan members, soliciting business with the premise of reviewing members’ pension plans for strategic priorities. These third-party companies are not associated with the Philadelphia Board of Pensions & Retirement. If you receive one of these emails, you may ignore or delete it. You can also report these emails using the “report phishing” button in Microsoft Outlook and they will be blocked as needed.

Updates to the MLK Drive Weekend Closure for Recreation Schedule
The City of Philadelphia Department of Streets, Office of Transportation and Infrastructure Systems (OTIS), and Philadelphia Parks and Recreation (PPR), announce the suspension of the MLK Drive Weekend Closure for Recreation on Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27 due to the 54th Head of the Schuylkill Regatta.
MLK Drive will remain open to motor vehicles as it serves as a key point of access for regatta competitors and audience members.
Seasonal recreation closures will resume on November 2, which includes weekend vehicle restrictions.
Here’s the remaining seasonal closure schedule:
November 2-3 – Regular weekend vehicle closure
November 9-11 – Extended vehicle closure for Veterans Day
November 16-17 – Regular weekend vehicle closure
November 23-24 -Regular weekend vehicle closure
November 28 – December 1 – Extended vehicle closure for Thanksgiving and the last weekend of the seasonal closure
Please plan your trips accordingly.
Valley Youth House is moving!
On Monday, November 11, 2024, Valley Youth House (VYH), one of the Office of Homeless Service’s Youth Access Point locations, will officially open the doors to its new office at:
1880 JFK Blvd.

Monday – Thursday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Walk-ins are welcome!
The current 1500 Sansom Street location will close on Monday, October 14, 2024, to prepare for the move, but will still provide services in the meantime.
Accessing services from Oct. 14 to Nov. 10
Until the new office opens on Nov. 11, VYH will continue to work from the field and community between Oct. 14 and Nov. 10. Here’s how and where to access youth services:
In Person
Teams will still be outside of Ocean Prime at 15th and Sansom Streets in the Valley Youth House Mobile Office providing emergency supplies and setting follow-up appointments with youth on the following Tuesdays.

About VYH services
Synergy Project: Street Outreach and Youth Designated Access Point Teams
The Synergy Project Team provides services for young people 14-24 years old experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Its teams help youth navigate and gain access to housing options that may be available to them, provide emergency housing referrals, and provide emergency supplies such as food, hygiene and transportation. The team also provides mental health services and one on one support.
Synergy In Schools
The Synergy in Schools Team provides services for young people ages 14 to 21 years old who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability and have not yet completed their high school diploma or GED. Its teams help youth navigate the housing system, provide homeless prevention services, resources and referrals, housing navigation, mental health services and one-on-one case management.
